Dr. Lee Taylor started Family Physicians of Spartanburg in 1981 with Dr. Mark Knipfer.  Dr. Taylor has served on numerous committees in Spartanburg though the years to further the impact of quality medicine delivery here. Dr. Taylor enjoys serving his patients by focusing on preventative medicine.

He enjoys all facets of treating patients from newborn to geriatric.  Some specific areas of interest are cardiac health, lipid disorders, cholesterol treatment, wellness examinations and diabetes.

Dr. Taylor also enjoys time with family, gardening and photography as well as worshipping his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Liz Bostic

Nurse Practitioner
Liz Bostic grew up in Charleston, SC before starting her undergraduate degree at Appalachian Bible College as an International Missions Major. Feeling the call to medicine, she transferred to Cedarville University before completing her nursing degree at Anderson University.  After falling in love with the upstate, she planted roots and began as a nurse at Greenville Memorial’s Pediatric Emergency Department working within a Level 1 Trauma Team. Wanting to expand her background in medicine to incorporate all ages, she transferred to Greer Memorial Emergency Department before returning to school for her graduate degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner.

Growing up with four brothers had a significant impact on Liz’s enjoyment outside of work. While always eager to dress up, paint nails, or find a good shopping bargain, her comfort zones lie close to activities that include motor cross, whitewater rafting, horseback riding, or home remodeling.

Lisa Mathis- Lisa Mathis, FNP-C, is a nurse practitioner who joined Family Physicians of Spartanburg in 2015. Lisa works with Dr. Taylor in treating chronic and acute illnesses and enjoys educating patients in lifestyle changes to improve their health. As Dr. Taylor has taught her, Lisa treasures the opportunity to “join Christ where He is working” in the life of their patients.

Outside of FPS, Lisa enjoys spending time with her husband, four children, and soon to be three grandchildren. Lisa is an avid reader and an amateur gardener who loves spending time outside in God’s creation.

Chris Smith

Physician Assistant, PA-C, CAQ-EM
Chris Smith, PA-C, CAQ-EM, is a physician assistant working with Dr. Taylor.  Prior to working at Family Physicians of Spartanburg, Chris was the lead emergency medicine physician assistant for the Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System.  He was a member of Medical Group of the Carolinas – Emergency Medicine that provides Emergency Medicine staffing to five hospitals throughout the Upstate of South Carolina. In addition to his clinical work, Chris has served as adjunct faculty at Gardner-Webb University as instructor of emergency medicine.

Chris has been a Physician Assistant for seven years and completed his education as a member and valedictorian of the inaugural class of Gardner-Webb’s Physician Assistant Program in 2016. He also holds his certificate of additional qualification in emergency medicine from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
