Dr. Knipfer started Family Physicians of Spartanburg in 1981 with Dr. Lee Taylor. Dr. Knipfer received his undergraduate education from Emory University and performed his residency at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. He has served on numerous medical boards and committees in Spartanburg over the years.

Dr. Knipfer has a passion for serving his patients needs by offering wellness and complete physical exams. He has interest in lipid disorders, metabolic syndromes, diabetes management, cholesterol management and lifestyle changes. He also loves to see pediatric patients and families.

Dr. Knipfer enjoys fishing, gardening, outdoor adventure and time with family.

Originally from the small town of Lynchburg, SC, April Evans joined Dr. Knipfer’s team at Family Physicians in August of 2023. She graduated magna cum laude with an undergraduate degree in Health Science from Clemson University in 2011. After working at a community health center in Florence, SC for nearly a decade, she obtained her Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies from Gardner Webb University in May of 2023.

April resides in Roebuck and enjoys gardening, reading, and attending concerts. She frequently travels to see friends in the area as well as her family back in Lynchburg.
